2025 Free Spring Literacy Program

The SBU Reading Center is offering a free, seven-week literacy program for students in grades 5-12!

Running from March 17 to May 10, this personalized reading program is open to students in Olean and Buffalo, New York, and Bradford, Pennsylvania. Sessions are available in person at the St. Bonaventure Reading Center or online for flexible access.

Program Highlights

  • Two 90-minute sessions per week
  • Individualized literacy instruction from SBU graduate students in literacy education
  • Customized learning plans based on an initial diagnostic assessment
  • Focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and fluency
At the end of the program, participants will receive Bona swag, books and a certificate of participation as a reward for their commitment to literacy growth.

Why Enroll?
This structured literacy program helps students strengthen their reading skills, improve confidence and develop a lifelong love for reading. Attendance is mandatory, as session hours contribute to the training requirements for New York state literacy certification.

Limited Spots Available – Register by March 1!
Enrollment is first-come, first-served, and space is limited. Parents are encouraged to register early to secure a spot for their child.

About SBU's Reading Center

The Reading Center at St. Bonaventure is a renowned component of our MSED B-12 Literacy program. Students in pre-K through 12th grades are granted the opportunity to strengthen their reading skills through programs conducted by graduate level literacy teachers.

The focus of these efforts is assessment and instruction in reading.
